Tasting - Clay Shannon Cabernet Sauvignon
For my first tasting of the week, I headed over to the Blacksburg Wine Lab to try a glass of wine, as I didn't feel like purchasing an entire bottle. I tried the Clay Shannon Cabernet Sauvignon. Here's my overall review of this wine!
Name: Clay Shannon Cabernet Sauvignon
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon
Country of Origin: United States
Region of Origin: North Coast, California
Vintage Year: 2018
Price: $12 for a glass ($48 per bottle)
Wine Lab Tasting Notes: "Dry. Full-bodied. Soft velvety tannins. Medium acidity. Notes of raspberry, dark cherries, red currant, and tobacco leads to a long, elegant finish."
Wine Folly: Referenced from pages 88 and 89 - Cabernet Sauvignon. I got the black cherry, graphite and woody / cedar notes. I did not get the black currant or baking spices. Medium, not full, tannins and full bodied wine overall. I did get the black cherry notes and "lush tannins" as referenced in the book.
Personal Wine Review: Scents of dark berries, cherry, oak, and smoke on the nose. Flavors of black cherry, blackberry, oak, and vanilla on the palate. Undertones of graphite and earthy notes on the palate. Medium tannins with a long finish. Bold and dry with hints of acidity. Very good!
