Tasting - Broadbent Vinho Verde

For my second tasting of the week, I tried the Broadbent Vinho Verde.  I've actually had quite a few Vinho Verde wines before, but have never tried this specific one.  After studying abroad last year and spending some time in Portugal (where I got to drink a ton of Vinho Verde) I've been on the search for one that reminds me of my trip.  Here's my overall review of this Vinho Verde!

Name: Broadbent Vinho Verde

Variety: Vinho Verde Blend: 50% Loureiro, 40% Trajadura, 10% Pedernã

Country of Origin: Portugal

Region of Origin: Vinho Verde

Vintage Year: N/V

Price: $8.99

Kroger Wine Review: Spritzy and bright, with plenty of lemon-lime flavors.  Excellent for lunch and picnics, or an evening aperitif.  It makes a brilliant pairing with any fish, shellfish, and poultry. (88 pts -  Wine & Spirits).

Wine Folly: Referenced from page 184, Vinho Verde.  Strong scents of acidic citrus and floral.  Tastes of grapefruit, lemon, and lime on the palate.  Very dry and acidic, with low tannins.

Personal Wine Review:  This Vinho Verde was decent, but honestly not my absolute favorite Vinho Verde.  It had a very dry taste with acidic flavors of lemon, lime, and grapefruit.  Minimal spritz and floral flavors overall.  I prefer the JM Fonseca Twin Vines Vinho Verde or the Casal Garcia Vinho Verde.
