Tasting - Gruet Blanc de Noirs
For my first tasting of the week, I decided to try a sparkling wine. I've only ever tried Champagne (yes, from Champagne) but not a sparkling wine. So, I decided, why not try one! Here's my review of Gruet's Blanc de Noirs:
Name: Gruet Blanc de Noirs
Variety: Sparkling Wine - Pinot Noir
Country of Origin: United States
Region of Origin: New Mexico
Vintage Year: N/V
Price: Originally $21.99 but on sale for $14.39
Kroger Wine Review: "Elegant and focused, with creamy vanilla and apple aromas and rich yet crisp flavors of baked pear and cinnamon bread." - 90 pts, Wine Spectator
Wine Folly: Referenced from pages 150 and 151, Pinot Noir. I got the vanilla and cinnamon. I did not get the cherry, raspberry, clove, or mushroom, which are present in red pinot noirs.
Personal Wine Review: Scents of citrus, cherry blossoms, pear, and yeast on the nose. Light citrus scents overall. Notes of lemon, grapefruit, and pear on the palate. Crisp, dry, and very spritzy! I enjoyed this sparkling wine and am looking forward to tasting it again.
